Back Pain

Back PainjonSeptember 8, 2020January 12, 2021

From acute to persistent complaints, The Milton Physiotherapist have the skills to relieve your back pain. You can be assured that we provide advice and treatment to give you the confidence to return to normal life.

Back pain is the most common complaint we treat and the pain can be severe and frightening. The level of pain does not determine the diagnosis or severity of injury.

Our physiotherapists have the experience to assess and classify your pain. Firstly, we ensure the problem is relevant to physiotherapy. There can be medical reasons for your pain and we will refer you for scans or to your doctor if we suspect this is the case.

Secondly we look to differentiate whether your problem is related to nerve compression (less common than you think) or other causes such as disc, joint, pelvis or muscle-related.

Our assessment is designed to give us clues as to how to treat you. The evidence for physiotherapy treatment of back pain has given us multiple methods to relieve your pain. We will employ manual therapies – joint and nerve mobilisations, soft-tissue release, stretches – and exercise in various forms – movement re-training, strengthening and core/kinetic chain control.
